Sea-trout by night

During the summer and autumn a spectacular view starts at the karup-river, when the night beginns. The sea-trout go out their typical spots and start moving up the river.

During day-light they stay in the deep curves or underneath plant and gras in the water. When the darkness starts, they go out and move upstream.

You can see them really often and that makes the fishing so spectacular. During day-light flies and lures have to reach the deep areas, where the sea-trouts are. During the night a big dark tube-fly underneath the surface is a good choice to get one of them.

The sea-trouts move upstram and you can catch them in the long areas of the river between the curves. But there are spots, where they stay in the darkness for a little while and here they are really aggressive. But how do these spots loke like?

“The neck with fast water downstream” is a spot, where the trouts move through the fast water and take a jump over the neck. Then they stay often with their tail right on the neck.

“Grass and plant under water in the middle of the river” is a spot, where the trouts take a little rest and show a moving with the back, a fin or only the tail. Here they stay often only for a few minutes, but there they are really aggressive.

“The typical V” – during day-light the trouts stay behind the “V” at the deep sides of the river. During darkness they stay at the top of the “V” or a little bit upstream.

“Bushes and trees” – here the trouts stay during day-light underneath the shadow of the bush. During darkness they stay 1-4 m upstream and move a lot in this area and they seem to protect it.

You have to fish these spots intensive and the result hopefully looks like this.

“Tight lines”
